The Cebu Experience

Last September 30, 20, Irish, Joan, John, Lanie and I went to Cebu onboard Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 552. Time of departure at the Domestic Airport was 5am. The original plan is to rent a hotel room (preferably Victoria Court??? hindi naman hotel to ah!) near the airport for us not to be late considering most of our home is far from the airport. Instead, Joan, Irish and I decided to meet early at 7-11 Store in Marikina. Irish's father drove us to the domestic airport. We will meet John and Lanie there.

At the airport, we were very excited thus we forgot to look for Lanie and John (who were already waiting for us). We immediately entered the terminal then check in our luggage. Terminal Fee was P200 each. Dined at the terminal and we are surprised by the high price of meals.

At the plane, cameras are so busy. We also took time to read the safety guidelines and watched the safety demonstration of the flight attendant. Free snacks were served which includes cofee that tastes like burned rice.

We arrived Cebu International airport at about 7am. We dont have itenerary thus we asked the taxi driver to look for a cheap but nice hotel. After an hour ride, the taxi driver brought us to downton Metro Cebu. THe hotel was Hotel de Mercedes. It was near the Metro Gaisano mall. We rested for several hours at the Hotel. Then we headed for the Taoist temple. Rented a taxi for for P450 back and forth. Stayed for several hours then headed for Mingkays Restaurant at Guadalupe for late lunch. We ordered tuna panga inihaw, pochero (bulalo) and chicken bisaya. The first two dish taste good but the chicken bisaya that we expect is special dish was not extra ordinary. The chicken that they claimed is not a chicken but a tastes more like duck. After lunch, we searched for the Rustans Fresh. The waiter in Minkays instructed us to ride jeepney and head for Banawa. However, we rode the wrong jeepney route that led us to Foodah, a competitor of Rustans. Rode again then headed for the Robinsons Mall. Asked for instructions from a girl but she thought we are looking for the Rustan Department Store, so she pointed us to Gaisano Mall at Ayala. At Ayala, we make the most of our time (window shop) then went to Boanoan Market and bought "pasalubong". We expected that the price of danggit was only P120 but its at P400. I could only aford to buy for half kilo. While looking for other items, we met PTS and his family there. Headed back to the hotel. End of first day.

Second day, went to Basilica de Sto Nino. The church was so crowded and the mass was in Bisaya. We took mass at Cebu Cathedral, picture taking at Magellans Cross and Cebu Port area. Irish and Joan bought guitar near Magellans cross. Bought t-shirts at Metro Gaisano. We nearly beat the check out time at the hotel. The attendant told us that we will pay for another day if the stay extended for few minutes.

At Mactan City (September 30 2:00pm)
On board 2 taxis, looked for new hotel. Several expensive hotels were suggested by the driver until we reached Mactan Hotel (a cheap one, more like a a motel). Went to Bellavista Resort and dine for P375. We planned to swim but the rain poured. Proceed to Mactan Shrine and have pictures with Lapu Lapu. Dine at Sutukil (like a dampa in Manila). The food was not that good when compared to dampa. Maybe because we chose the cheapest selling Resto.

The tour ended on October 1, 2006.

Interresting facts:
LLR spends about 30 minutes at the shower
John can't live without TV
