From John: Greetings from Casablanca

Posted by Sonny Thursday, May 15, 2008 1 comments

Hi po! Musta na po kayo? Ako, oks naman po. Maluwalhati naman pong nakarating dito sa Casablanca. Hindi naman ako naligaw sa Dubai. Hehehe.

Hehehe. Bukas po ay papasok na ako. Kinakabahan ako. Sana makayanan ko. Please continue praying for me po.

God bless!!!!

IAD Summer Outing 2008-Anawangin, Island Cove

Posted by Sonny Monday, May 5, 2008 0 comments

Pundaquit San Antonio, Zambales.

May 1, 2008
Meeting place in receiving area of Shopwise Araneta at 3:00am. Joan sent message telling that the van will be delayed by 30 minutes. Nag-meet sa Shell station sa expressway and then convoy papuntang Subic.

Since bago, mabait pa ung patrol man. Cyangapala, 20-30 minutes lang from Clark to Subic sa SCTEX.

Malayo ang Wild Rose beach resort sa shore contrary to the claim by the resort owner that it is only stones throw away.

We headed off to the beach where our boat was waiting. A boat here going to Anawangin cost around Php 700 going to and fro. A boat can carry 4-5 pax. So off we go on a about 30 minute boat ride to Anawangin. The waves were calm. We passed by the islands Capones and Camara on our right. We were already at the cove mouth and was headed towards the shore. The cove landscape look really amazing. And what I immediately noticed aside from it’s white sand beach are the pine trees! It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a beach with pine trees along the shore. The caretaker of the cove said that pine trees started to grow the cove after the Pinatubo eruption.

Risk Based Auditing Seminar Workshop

Posted by Sonny Monday, February 4, 2008 1 comments

Internal Audit has successfully completed a seminar on Risk Based Auditing last January 30 to February 1, 2008. Our speaker is Ms. Edna G. De Leon (currently IAD’s consultant).

The 3 days workshop includes the following:
1.Lectures on
a.Why Risk based Audit
b.Internal Audit Principles
c.Corporate Governance
d.Risk Management
e.Control and Risk Frameworks
f.Risk Based Audit Planning
g.Risk Based Audit Engagement

2. CIA Model Exams
3. Activity Workshop – Group discussion and presentation.

The participants (Associate Auditors and Senior Auditors) were grouped as follows:
1. Toddlers Group – explained as in the toddlers stage when it comes to organizational maturity. Members – SAA, JFL,RRC,RVD,SSI
2. Marimar Group – (sorry I failed to get the meaning)
Members – ATB,CBB,LOT,RAV
3. COSO Group – Committee of pSalm One two nine (from one of the story given by EGDL)
Members – MDG,CCG,IAN,JMA,KCY

Initially, each group was given half day to complete the seminar but most of the group asked for extension to one day. Each group has successfully presented the activity. IAD Management awarded the group with the highest grade in each of the criteria they have set for the activity. Over-all winner is the Toddlers Group.

Furthermore, we are very glad that IAD management provided us this seminar not only because of the free lunch/ merienda, and lay –off from current Audit obligations but more importantly is that it was free (this seminar when offered outside costs P12,000 per person) and that we have understood the principles which serve as foundation in embracing the risk based Auditing. Thank you po!
